Art with a Purpose: Supporting the Ukrainian Heritage Site in Lockerbie

For me, art has always been more than a form of creative expression—it’s a way to connect with people, share stories, and give back where it matters most. One cause especially close to my heart is the Ukrainian Heritage Site in Lockerbie, Scotland. This unique place is a powerful symbol of resilience, identity, and community—a place where Ukrainian andScottish histories beautifully intertwine.

A Place That Holds So Many Stories—and Builds New Ones
Tucked away in the quiet countryside of Dumfriesshire, the Ukrainian Heritage Site was
originally created by Ukrainian prisoners of war who surrendered to the Allies at the end of the Second World War. For nearly 80 years, it has served as a spiritual and cultural home for Ukrainians living in Scotland. Today, it brings together three generations: the local Scottish community, descendants of the original Ukrainian settlers, and newly arrived Ukrainian refugees seeking a sense of belonging.

But this site is not only a place of remembrance—it’s also a space of hope and cultural
renewal. Alongside the historic chapel, a second barrack was recently restored into a vibrant cultural centre. This beautifully transformed space now includes a small museum, a Ukrainian library, and an area for exhibitions and cultural events—a hub for sharing stories, learning, and building new connections.

Giving Back Through Art
As a Ukrainian artist living in Scotland, I wanted to find a meaningful way to support this
special place—a rare site in the UK where Ukrainian and Scottish stories are deeply
connected. That’s why I’ve committed to donating 30% of the profits from my limited edition print collection, Scotland and Ukraine, to help sustain and grow the Ukrainian Heritage Site. This print series is a tribute to the landscapes, memories, and shared spirit of two countries that mean so much to me. Every piece you purchase helps ensure the continued care and development of this unique place—supporting exhibitions, preserving history, and nurturing a community space where culture can flourish.

How You Can Help
If you believe in the power of places to connect us—across generations and across borders—I warmly invite you to be part of this story. Purchasing a print from the Scotland and Ukraine collection is more than a way to bring meaningful art into your life; it’s a gesture of solidarity and support for a place that holds the heart of a community.

Let’s keep this story alive—together.
With love,
Oleksandra
